Director of Community Engagement & Program Coordination
Tony Bonetti joined Rainbow Families as Director of Community Engagement and Program Coordination in May 2015. Tony brings a strong background in the non-profit sector and a passion for community engagement. Previously, Tony worked as the Director of Community Impact for the Connecticut Coalition to End Homelessness where he worked to foster community based collaborations to drive systems change to end homelessness. He holds Bachelors of Arts degrees in sociology and public policy from Eastern Connecticut State University and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Connecticut.
Tony and his husband, Matthew, have been partnered for 14 years and married for 10 years. They live in Kensington, Maryland with their ten-year-old daughter, Audrey. Tony is proud to have been a stay-at-home dad prior to joining Rainbow Families, and is excited for the opportunity to use his knowledge and experiences in his work with Rainbow Families.
Intern, Gallaudet University
Mark Byrd is Rainbow Families first intern who will be working closely with Tony Bonetti in administrative, social aspects of the organization. Mark is a 4th year student at Gallaudet University majoring in Social Work with an emphasis in hospice/healthcare and is a candidate for graduation in May of 2017. He has experience in being a step-parent to his former partner's three daughters and 2 grandchildren. His experience on "blended families" will be an unique advantage for the organization.
He is originally from Ohio but grew up in Seattle, Washington. He has written a couple published articles, "Accessibility and Accountability," about LGBTQ community's responsibility for language access as well as articles relating to the Deaf community and healthcare.
